FAQ 12 – In Psalm. 84:11b it says God will not withhold from those who walk uprightly. Can you explain so that we understand what God was saying, please?
For the Lord God is a Sun and Shield; the Lord bestows [present] grace andfavor and [future] glory (honor, splendor, and heavenly bliss)! No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. Psalm 84:11 Amp
Remember always when reading the Old Testament that we need to filter everything we read through Jesus finished work to be able to rightly divide what it says for us today. In a nutshell “to walk uprightly” is talking about being righteous. In our New Covenant we are made rightoeus ONLY by believing in Jesus! We are NOT under the Old Covenant, which to a large extent was conditional on the peoples performance! BUT we are under the NEW which is TOTALLY dependent on Jesus performance and on His finished work.
It is also important to understand that through Jesus finished work God has ALREADY provided everything we need for life and for godliness (see 2 Pet 1:2-3). This means that God CANNOT withhold what He has already freely provided. The inheritance is ALREADY ours. This is why I always say “We are waiting on God BUT He is waiting on us to partake in what he has already freely provided”
Pray this helps 🙂
